2024 Comprehensive Plan Update
Washington State's Growth Management Act requires that cities and counties update their Comprehensive Plans every 10 years. The next update of the City's Comprehensive plan is due in December of 2024. The 2024 Update will plan for the next 20 years of population and employment growth, through the year 2044.
The purpose of the Comprehensive Plan is to envision the city's future and describe the city's long-term vision for growth, infrastructure, and services. It is a living document that articulates a series of goals and policies intended to guide the day-to-day decisions of the elected officials and city staff. The most recent update to Brier's Comprehensive Plan took place in 2015.
From March through August 2024 the city will be hosting open house meetings, public hearings, and gathering public input to help shape the Comprehensive Plan and accommodate growth over the next 20 years.
Specifically the city will be drafting and implementing new regulations mandated by the state to accommodate Accessory Dwelling Units and to provide additional 'Missing Middle Housing'. - All Elements: Saturday May 11th from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
